Curriculum
At AEA, we are not bound to a single curriculum, text or instructional material. In fact, we are open to research many different models and approaches to best teach our students. As a team, we develop and create lessons and activities based on the standards set by California, as well as the abilities of the students in our classes. Our teacher-created curriculum allows creative, open-ended activities and allows for differentiation to be embedded in our classrooms each and every day.
Here is a list of some the resources that are used in our classrooms.
enVisionMATH
enVision is a math program that engages your child as it strengthens their understanding of math. enVisionMATH uses problem based interactive learning and visual learning to deepen conceptual understanding. It incorporates bar diagram visual tools to promote problem-solving skills, and it provides data-driven differentiated instruction to ensure success.

Writer's Workshop
Writer's Workshop is an interdisciplinary writing technique which can build students' fluency in writing through continuous, repeated exposure to the process of writing. In first grade students will brainstorm, create a rough draft, teacher edit, create a final draft, and publish their writing. During the editing process we will be focusing on punctuation, capitalization, phonetic spelling, and adding details. You can see your child's writing in their classrooms.
